Parent Hub - Explorers Section

Explorers is where the Scouting adventure continues for young people aged 14 to 18 years old, offering greater independence, bigger challenges and incredible opportunities to explore, learn and lead. As Explorers take more ownership of their journey, they are encouraged to develop new skills, challenge themselves, work as a team and take on adventures that push them beyond their comfort zone.

Our programme is designed by Explorers, for Explorers, and is packed with exciting opportunities including expeditions, camping, outdoor adventures, leadership challenges, skills development, international opportunities, community projects and much more. Every activity is a chance to try something new, build confidence and create memories that will last a lifetime.

At Lias Lapwings Explorers, part of 1st Long Itchington Scout Group, we believe every young person should have the opportunity to take the lead, discover their potential and develop the skills they need for life. Whether they’re planning an expedition, mastering a new skill, supporting younger sections, completing an award or taking on an adventure they never thought possible, every Explorer is encouraged to challenge themselves and achieve their goals.

This Parent Hub contains everything you need to support your Explorer throughout their journey with us, including meeting information, programme updates, uniform guidance, expedition and camp details, permission forms, award information and key contacts.

Thank you for being part of our Scouting family — we’re excited to share new challenges, unforgettable adventures and amazing experiences together! ⚜️

Explorers Uniform & Badge Placement

Wearing an Explorer uniform is a fantastic way to show pride in being part of the worldwide Scouting movement. Uniform helps Explorers feel a sense of belonging, teamwork and connection with the wider Scouting family, while the badges they wear tell the story of their achievements, adventures and the skills they have developed along their journey.

As Explorers take on new challenges, complete activities and develop new skills, they will earn badges and awards to add to their uniform. Each badge represents an achievement, an experience or something they have learned, from adventurous activities and expeditions to leadership opportunities and personal development. The diagram below shows where each badge should be positioned on the Explorer uniform.

If you’re ever unsure where a badge belongs, or need any help with uniform, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our leaders — we’re always happy to help make sure Explorers look their best for meetings, events and adventures. ⚜️
